Silly Dalena!

This is my niece, Dalena. She is 2 years old and have been quite silly for a while. She is 1/4 Vietnamese – 1/4 American – 1/2 Filipino that’s why she look like no other kid. The next video clip is all about her acting funny while she thought it was her birthday.

Now that explains why she is silly!

Discover oDesk

Some four years ago I had the urge to be a part of a team, to enhance my knowledge and skills especially when it pertains to things related to my profession, which is Information Technology. In my search of a job, a friend introduced me to an online market portal that allows an employee to work home-based, and I thought this is what I wanted. I barely had no idea what an online freelancing is, but later on I learned about it as I signed up an account on oDesk.com.

oDesk.com or simply oDesk is a California-based market portal with a global marketplace designed to hire remote workers. Clients post jobs on oDesk and invite candidates for potential job designation. This is an easy way to manage a team of remote workers as if they are in one office.

When I first landed a job on oDesk, it was of a very minimal rate, as a beginner I had to gain some great feedbacks. As I get a new job, I have to raise my rate a little, and now I am happy working for several clients from different time zones, and each compensates good. I have regular clients from USA, UK, and Canada, and all are great employers.

As a certified freelance contractor on oDesk, I feel it easier to manage my time, although I am having a secular job, I still can do the tasks that I am assigned to, for each client, every day. Not only that, I have established good relationship with each of my clients, making it easier for me to approach them every time I have concerns on job-related issues.

Yes, working online gives greater benefit than that of working in a company that requires your presence in the office. oDesk makes everything comfortable – from logging in of hours worked, to getting paid, and transferring money to local bank. I thank this company big time for without it I haven’t gone with a couple of trips outside the country, never had any of my great possessions, including the added knowledge and skills that I learned through different employers.

Discover oDesk and see what future it may bring you.

My Spring 2012 Vacation

They say Sagittarius people are naturally outgoing – love to travel and see new places. Well, I am not into this horoscope thing but I find myself to have a passion on traveling. Since I got this stable source of income, the urge to go for a travel keeps growing in me, and I commenced the act when I had my first out of country tour last year. Me together with my family went for a 5-day Hong Kong-Macau tour. It was fun and exciting since it was my first time to fly overseas, and it’s like telling me, “dream come true, Gwen”.

After that travel I had to plan for the next trip. I picked South Korea to be my next destination since I was pretty amazed with the Jeju Island that’s one of the wonders of the world. Again, the whole family has been planning for this SK trip – went shopping for winter clothes and stuff. But things went the other way because in mid 2011, we decided to apply for US tourist visa but unfortunately I got turned down. So by then I thought of pursuing South Korea. I contacted a friend who works in Seogwipo, Brandon Russell whom I met on Facebook, and he was eager to show me around.

2012 came so fast but then I was having doubts of going to SK since my travel agency hasn’t been offering a package tour with Jeju Island itinerary. Long story short, I backed off the plan and with not much anticipation, I was able to fly again to Hong Kong for the second time. This time I had to make sure I have the best Spring outfit – jackets, long sleeves, sweatshirts, boots, etc. I love taking pictures so the outfit makes a lot of sense. The trip was just short but I enjoyed it as we stayed in a very nice four-star hotel and finally I got my extreme rides both at Disneyland and Ocean Park.

Now I am back to my corner, and again, thinking of my next stop. Would it be Spring 2013 in SK? Well who knows, but I am keeping my head up and will make the planning as soon as I am settled with the budget. Somehow, I have thought of securing a Canadian tourist visa so I will be able to visit my relatives in Ontario and some friends in Calgary. Wow, it would be another fun trip for sure!
